Is Boost the secret of Sitecore performance?

I have been doing quite a bit of performance testing lately. I promised Nathaneal Mann a while back that I would include Sitecore Boost while testing performance. Nat has done a lot of work around performance and he has put together Sitecore Boost. Its fairly simple to install and you can find all the information on his GitHub page: https://github.com/cardinal252/Sitecore.Boost

I did not did not modify any configuration after installation. I pushed the production code to the VM and ran the tests.

The code is based on the information provided in Bring it on! – The battle rages between Simple Injector and Microsoft DI in Sitecore Performance Testing land far far away! . It currently runs on Microsoft DI, Glass 4.3.

I ran a test as is and a test with just Boost installed on top of it.

Test Setup

The following test was run twice for Non-Boost and twice for Boost.

Overall Boost did show performance improvement especially with processor time and queued requests. I have posted the comparisons for your review. As I mentioned, I did not make any config changes or code changes, just installed Boost. I will be doing some more performance tests to see if it stays consistent. Depending on your page and its renderings it will help a great deal.

If you have any questions about Boost, please be sure to reach out to Nathanael Mann.
